My folks own a campground that I love to spend time at. It will be opening in May for the season and I decided they should have postcards of the first thing you see when you drive up. They have these wonderful handmade adirondack chairs that have been painted in bold and bright colors right in front of the fire pit. I love to sit there in the evenings with one of the kids on my lap and just talk and laugh with family.
I had to dust off the old watercolors and I put together this quick little painting. My husband who is a graphic designer put it together and it's now ready for printing. Do you have a favorite summer spot to hang out with your family?
Ah the ocean, the salt water, the sand and the surf......you are calling for me. I've always loved the ocean and I think that it was one extra thing that made me fall in love with my husband some 15 years ago. His family owns a cottage on a beautiful piece of beach which is where we were engaged and then married a year later. We take at least two annual family trips to "THE BEACH", and we are starting to plan out our times there. I'd love to take a whole month off and take the kids there to enjoy the full summer with sandy bathing suits, fun sun filled days with the cousins and Grandparents.
I would sit on the beach with my big sun hat on and sketch for endless hours, in between applying sunscreen and building sandcastles with my three young children. Oh how they LOVE the beach!
I've been working on a new series of coastal type pieces like this one of a girl riding a whale. And I created a card from that image as well.
and then three lovely beachy ladies for water lovers.
We can't wait to get to the beach! Do you have a favorite beachy spot?
I've been really busy in my studio lately getting started on some Halloween pieces early this year. Halloween is one of our busiest times and pieces sell all year round but start BIG time in early August. Since my twin and business partner is an art teacher, she gets her summers off and she will soon start helping me with our Halloween originals and favorites. I have been peeking around and have come up with a few spooky favorites by some of my favorite artists....
This piece comes from here, from a neat artist Becca. I just bought a great little "creepling" that is blue and amazing! I cant' wait to add it to my Halloween tree!
This spooky guy can be bought here at cartbeforthehorse. I've been a fan of these softies since they were featured sellers on Etsy. They also happen to have a great spread in the new issue of "Prims" magazine that we were also published in.
This great piece can be found here. I'm a sucker for all things black, white and stripy!
And this one reminds me of myself and my twin. This comes from the super talented Doreen Kassel who makes the most amazing pieces! I'm just in awe when I see her new pieces.
